COPD Wheel

As part of COPD Right Care we have developed a new tool to help start new conversations about personalising care for people with COPD. We worked with a team of prescribers, COPD educators, nurses, pharmacists and people with COPD in six countries (Brazil, Greece, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States).

Test versions of the COPD Wheel were distributed to our network at our World Conferences and Scientific Meetings, and revised in response to subsequent GOLD guideline updates and user feedback, before releasing publicly in January 2025. The wheel is available in multiple languages and is complemented by additional formats and a demo video demonstrating how it can be used with someone with COPD in a consultation setting. The COPD Wheel is currently being reviewed in light of GOLD 2026 and an interactive online version is currently in development.

There is a link on the wheel to offer user feedback: https://tinyurl.com/copdsurveyen.  We will keep this under review, together with any changes in GOLD that may need to be reflected.

An educational grant from Boehringer Ingelheim enabled IPCRG to develop and test this tool. A grant from AstraZeneca enabled IPCRG to update, translate and distribute it.

This resource complements our COPD Question & Challenge Cards.  These can be used at individual, practice, undergraduate or postgraduate teaching level to raise awareness and discussion about the prevention, diagnosis and management of COPD.  They feature individual questions and challenging statements with referenced answers. Many incorporate infographics and can therefore also be used in social media campaigns. For our growing collection of COPD Right Care resources, click here.
