IPCRG/AstraZeneca summit: Making Right Care Easy

20 Sep 2023

Asthma Right Care aims to apply the evidence of social movements for health to gain acceptance globally that we have problems to solve in the management of asthma in primary care and then to gain commitment to change, at scale.

Having co-created key “conversation pieces” such as the slide rule, question and challenge cards and Reliever Reliance Test, we are rolling out the movement to more countries, to more parts of the system, and going deeper, to achieve sustainable behaviour change.

This needs more Asthma Right Care champions.

With the support of AstraZeneca, we organised a  meeting of potential champions from the Middle East and Africa, Latin America and Asia to explore the barriers and enablers to delivering Right Care.

A team of eight IPCRG mentors led table discussions, revealing the importance of building national asthma “lexicons”; the challenges of data collection including over the counter and emergency room activity; and the need to invest in primary care for diagnosis and management of asthma. We aim to write up the pre-meeting survey of our Members and the participants as a paper for publication.
