Tunis 2026: welcome message from conference chair

28 Oct 2025

To mark the opening of registration and abstract submission for the 13th IPCRG World Conference and 1st North African Interdisciplinary Forum, conference co-chair Habib Ghedira has shared the following message:

"We are thrilled to host the 13th IPCRG World Conference in the historic city of Tunis, a fitting backdrop as IPCRG celebrates its 25th anniversary milestone. Our gathering echoes the spirit of the Arab world's most renowned historical sociologist, Ibn Khaldun, born in Tunis, who in 1377 observed: “What is obtained by the cooperation of a group of human beings satisfies the need of a number many times greater than themselves.”

This powerful idea—that collaboration creates exponential value—is what drives our interdisciplinary approach to today's respiratory primary care challenges. We are further inspired by the clear willingness of regional health leaders to integrate the IPCRG’s expertise into their initiatives.

Nestled on the Mediterranean coast, Tunis is a city where history is not just studied, but truly felt. Our conference venue is walking distance from the beautiful Medina and the Zeitouna University, the oldest in the world, and a short journey from the ancient Punic ports, Roman villas, and the hallowed grounds of Byrsa Hill, offering an unparalleled, immersive setting for our discussions. A visit to the renowned Bardo Museum, with the world's most prestigious collection of Roman mosaics, is an essential journey through time.

For those extending their stay, the southern region of Tunisia awaits as the gateway to the Sahara. Here, our unofficial mascot, the fennec fox, darts across endless dunes and finds shelter among the same dramatic vestiges that provided a landscape for George Lucas’s Star Wars."
