Tunis 2026: Shaping a New Era of Patient-Centered Respiratory Care in North Africa - a message from the conference chair
In the build-up to the 13th IPCRG World Conference and 1st North African Interdisciplinary Forum, conference co-chair Habib Ghedira will share regular messages highlighting topics of interest and challenges in the region. Registration and abstract submission for Tunis 2026 are open now - make sure to submit your abstract by 22 February!
The North African Respiratory Interdisciplinary Forum is more than just a medical meeting—it marks the beginning of a transformative paradigm in respiratory patient care across the region. Traditionally, care pathways begin with primary care providers and community pharmacists. If initial management fails to meet clinical goals or patient expectations, referrals escalate to secondary or even tertiary care. Along this fragmented journey, patients may encounter radiologists, physiologists, physiotherapists, educators, and other specialists—often without coordinated communication. This multilayered approach can be inefficient and detrimental to outcomes.
Our mission is to place the patient at the heart of care. We aim to bring together professionals from all levels—medical experts, paramedics, and allied health providers—to collaborate, understand each other's tools, and co-create intelligent, integrated solutions.
The IPCRG has developed a robust suite of tools for primary care, which now serve as foundational pillars for this new model. These resources are increasingly recognized as essential across all levels of care—not just by primary care stakeholders.
Also, the Forum’s educational approach draws inspiration from the most modern pedagogical methods. Innovative formats such as the Inhaler Game, World CafĂ©, and Escape Room create engaging, interactive learning experiences that go beyond traditional lectures.
We invite you to explore this dynamic shift in respiratory care by participating in the North African Respiratory Interdisciplinary Forum. Contribute your expertise and be part of a movement that redefines how we care for respiratory patients—together.
