New Zealand COPD Guidelines: 2025 Update

17 Nov 2025

The Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ’s NZ Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Guidelines: 2025 Update revises the first-ever NZ COPD guidelines, published in the New Zealand Medical Journal in February 2021. A review was undertaken by a multidisciplinary working group of health professionals with expertise in COPD, in line with the latest national and international evidence. The working group, which also included a patient representative, was led by Professor Bob Hancox from the University of Otago, with the goal of improving diagnosis, and laying out clear recommendations for assessment and management of COPD in New Zealand.
