11th IPCRG World Conference: delegate registration is now open

08 Feb 2022

The 11th IPCRG World Conference & 2nd Ibero-American Primary Care Respiratory Meeting is feeling very real as much of the world opens up following the removal of many travel restrictions. We have not met as a global primary care respiratory community for four years and we are very excited to be reconnecting with you all. We have missed you and were delighted with the submission of over 160 abstracts. It was reassuring to see the wide range of work ongoing in primary respiratory care, even in the most challenging of circumstances. Thank you to everyone who submitted their work, we are enjoying reading it and the results of the abstract reviews will be released on February 28.

Our Spanish co-hosts, El Grupo de Respiratorio en Atención Primaria (GRAP), have been wonderfully supportive and we are thrilled to be with them in Malaga on May 5-7, at the Trade Fair and Congress Centre. We hope you plan to join us there! Attending the conference in person will enable you to network and reconnect with colleagues, something difficult to do on Zoom. Much of the conference will be bilingual, in both Spanish and English.  We will be showcasing Spanish speaking experts from Spain as well as Latin America. For those unable to join in person, there is an online delegate option giving you access to live streamed sessions and ePosters.

Our theme Reunite, Evaluate, Advance or Reunirse, Evaluar, Avanzar is very apt for this time, as we work hard to establish a new normal.  We have an inspiring programme with high quality speakers from the global respiratory primary care and public health community, addressing many of the issues we face today including climate action for health, prevention, diagnosis and management of infectious and non-communicable respiratory problems common in primary care.

The COP26 meeting held last November reinforced the role we can play to look our planet and within our programme we are focusing on the role that respiratory medicine can play with sessions on climate change & respiratory health. We look forward to gaining a deeper understanding from Jeni Miller, Global Climate & Health Alliance on the Importance of Climate Change in Health & the Power to Act. This is followed by other sessions covering the primary care consultation: what to discuss with patients to empower them, with Tamsin Ellis, from the UK. Evelyn Brakema, from the Netherlands will be outlining the primary care clinician as role model, what to do to create a greener practice and Javiera Corbalán, from Chile will be looking at the primary care clinician as advocate.

No IPCRG conference is complete, however, without the usual coverage of many of the respiratory conditions you see on a regular basis, wherever you are in the world. Our programme has been designed by those working in primary care, for a primary care audience, and we have something for everyone in the programme.

Delegate registration (in-person & online/virtual) is OPEN and you can register here.

The IPCRG conference team is working closely with the Conference Centre to ensure that the IPCRG 11th World Conference meets all COVID-19 secure measures and is safe for everyone.  For all COVID-19 current guidance on travel to Spain please check the Spanish Government Ministry for Health Travel and COVID-19 information. We request that all in person participants are double vaccinated, in line with other respiratory conferences. If this is difficult, please join as an online delegate. We look forward to seeing you again in Malaga in May.
